The Incredible Hulk
I might have missed the word "incredible" somewhere in the script (the terms "hulk" and "abomination" were clearly stated), but the script and movie itself was incredible... I especially liked the smarty reference to the old Hulk tagline right at the beginning... it comes out (spoiler) "Please don't make me... hungry. You wouldn't like me when I'm... hungry." Banner (Ed Norton) is struggling with his Portugese. It's also smart while the film stays in South America, that after his first screen episode he ends up in a totally different country (Guatemala) - and there's some Spanish thrown in... quite engaging these first several minutes or 20-30 minutes.. these shouldn't be missed by any avid movie-going fanatic.
Nor should the entire film. The plot fleshes out quite nicely, I don't know where Marvel gets this A-team for everything, but apparently they're on the right track.
The three big fight scenes are all amazing and all further the plot/story. I would have like to see more clearly if the Abomination was in fact dead at the end. Banner's science helper "Dr. Blue" gets some drops of "juice" on his head injury. Those facts/points and the fact that Robert Downey Jr. aka the Iron Man from a recent Marvel movie, Iron Man, shows up at the very end leaves more pseudo-development/latitude than I would have liked for sequels... one sequel thread is already more than enough for me, and the Iron Man / Stark Industries tie-in is in my opinion well enough itself.
Loved the film, Loved Iron Man as well, can't wait to see the next Marvel offering... I don't know the history clearly, but this new outfit is definitely poised to take some serious dent from existing movie sales and/or increase big screen movie-going attendance itself.
Marvel is making good movies.
Cast:
Edward Norton... Bruce Banner
Liv Tyler... Betty Ross
These two characters work really good and there is definitely some sexual chemistry that works very sell.
Tim Roth... Emil Blonsky
Awesome character in the film, very believable and engaging on the screen.
Tim Blake Nelson... Samuel Sterns
Ty Burrell... Dr. Samson
Supporting characters... Tim Blake Nelson as Dr. Blue is a bit flaky and comical, but still genuine.
William Hurt... Gen. Thaddeus 'Thunderbolt' Ross
I haven't generally liked William Hurt in things, but you have to give him credit for experience and being an experienced, veteran actor... for movies he's done recently such as playing Walt McCandless in Into the Wild his character works very well.
